KUWAIT: The Kuwait Society for the Handicapped on Wednesday inaugurated an art exhibition for people with disabilities under the theme “Paintings of Determination and Beauty” at The Avenues Gallery. The exhibition, featuring works by Society members, will run until October 28. Speaking to KUNA at the opening, Chairperson Sabika Al-Jasser said the exhibition is the result of a training program held for the fifth time, sponsored by Kuwait Finance House (KFH) in collaboration with Kuwait Art Studio. She added that the program aims to highlight the talents of people with disabilities and support their social inclusion through fine arts.
The exhibition showcases 12 artworks created by students with disabilities, which Al-Jasser said reflect strong will, creativity, perseverance and hope. She emphasized the Society’s commitment to supporting and encouraging people with disabilities to excel and actively participate in all fields. Dr Jawaher Al-Bader, visual artist and training supervisor, told KUNA that the exhibition demonstrates that “disability is not an obstacle to creativity,” noting that art provides a refined means of expression, communication, and breaking barriers.
Al-Bader added that participants underwent an intensive workshop, during which they displayed great enthusiasm and the ability to convey emotions through painting. She said the exhibited works bear personal imprints and distinctive visual perspectives, reflecting diverse experiences and deep artistic sensibility. She expressed gratitude to all supporters and partners who contributed to the exhibition’s success, which aims to raise public awareness of disability issues and highlight the creativity of people with disabilities as an integral part of Kuwaiti society. — KUNA
